Learn the history of the German concentration camp, the longest operating (1939-45) on occupied Polish soil.
It was established less than 40 km from Gdańsk in order to isolate and exterminate Polish independence activists, priests and people of Jewish origin. The camp's activities claimed over 60,000 lives from 28 countries.
In 1962, in memory of the victims, the camp area was transformed into a museum.
During the tour, you will learn about the origins of the camp, the stages of its creation and the conditions of keeping prisoners. Within the camp you will see the camp barracks, the gas chamber and the crematorium. At the very end, you will watch two old, short newsreels: from the liberation of the camp by Red Army soldiers and from the trial in which the executioners were tried.
The tour of the museum itself will take about 2 hours. Because the exhibition is quite drastic, it can only be visited by people over 13 years of age.
To soothe our emotions, after leaving the museum, we can go for a short break with coffee or tea in a quiet inn located in an 18th-century arcaded house. 👣
👣 – we will see the place/facility depending on your wishes.
The tour price includes:
– local guide
– private transport
– entrance to the museum
– bottled water, coffee or tea for those interested
